Trinity Music Exams

Trinity Music Exams

Below are some important details to be borne in mind about Trinity Music Exams and the fees and payments involved, but please remember that these can change any moment and this post should not be held accountable for any new changes that might follow from the Trinity authorities.

1) Trinity Rock & Pop and Trinity Guildhall are 2 different music curriculums all under Trinity College of Music, London.

2) Trinity music exams happen twice a year.
Rock and Pop - April/May and October/November
Trinity Guildhall - June/July and November/December

3) Furtados is the institution that helps facilitate Trinity exams in India. All the application forms, hall tickets, results, and certificates are to be submitted/collected to/from the main Furtados branch in Marine Lines.

4) The teacher is the main applicant and the students are the candidates. The candidates are not allowed to collect/submit any documents directly from/to Furtados.

5) Trinity cheques and payments are made directly to Trinity through HDFC bank. The teacher helps facilitate this process.

6) Usually, the fees for the Initial grade exams in
Trinity Guildhall is Rs. 3350/-
Trinity Rock and Pop is Rs. 3450/-
The fees go up a few hundred rupees each grade.

7) There are a total of 8 Grade exams not counting the Initial grade exam. There are higher levels for exams and diplomas after Grade 8 too.

8) Books for Trinity Guildhall usually cost around Rs. 800 and Trinity Rock and Pop cost around Rs. 1500.

9) Every student needs an original book of his own for the exam.

10) To prepare for the exams especially the session skills, the student may need another book or so, which could be purchased by the teacher and then photocopies and pricing could be divided among the students utilizing that book.

11) Trinity or Furtados NEVER pays the music teacher anything for these exams nor is the teacher entitled to any other benefits.

12) Furtados usually maintains a deadline for submitting forms for the exams.

13) The candidates on the application form in advance could mention dates they would not be available for the exams. This would be on the application form submitted by the teacher.

14) Once the fees are paid for, the fees will never be refunded back. In case of medical emergencies and if the student then can't make it for the exam, the student has to submit the required medical documents as proof. Then, in this case, the student is allowed a 50 per discount within one year, for a similar Trinity exam.

15) The exams usually happen on a weekday and this is announced around 2-3 weeks before the exams.

16) As there are trips involved to Furtados and back for the teacher for all the documentation involved for these exams, a minimum charge per student is taken as conveyance.

17) The teacher doesn't take responsibility for sourcing the resources or altering the dates. Also, the syllabus should be looked upon and scrutinized by the parents as well. This is really important.
